Route 38 opened its door for the first time on Wednesday 9th March 2005 on the former site of a previous roadside restaurant beside the Trerulefoot Roundabout on the main A38 trunk road in South East Cornwall.
Being part of the Nightlife Leisure Group – Route 38 aims to be different and as the name suggests the restaurant runs with an American theme, right down to the red and white chequered tablecloths found in so many American Roadside Diners!
The walls of the restaurant are decorated with music memorabilia including pictures of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Buddy Holly right up to Robbie Williams, Shania Twain and the more modern day bands, many of these personally signed by the artist themselves. We even have a gold disk by Elvis!
The restaurant is fully licensed and air conditioned to enhance your dining experience and the waitress service is the finest around. Whilst enjoying the superb food prepared and cooked to order and listening to classic American soundtracks you may glance out of the window and spot the old American vehicle in the car park including our very own stunning Harley Davidson Truck, especially if your visit coincides with one of our American car event days every third Sunday of the month or other car meetings which are regularly held throughout the year. Visit the Motor Club Page for more details.
Route 303 our second restaurant in our authentic American chain of restaurants opened its doors on Monday 26th March 2012. The restaurant is situated just north of Honiton at Yarcombe, in the black down hills on the A303.
The restaurant continues with our authentic American theme, serving the classic American menu of burgers, ribs, steaks, chicken and Mexican meals.
The walls of the restaurant are decorated with music memorabilia of famous stars and signed guitars of the Rock ‘n’ Roll era. Relax and enjoy your meal whilst listening to classic American soundtracks from the 50’s to present day.
The restaurant is fully licensed and air conditioned for your comfort.
Route 5 opened its doors at 7am on Monday June 2nd 2014 after many months of hard graft spent designing, building and emptying the odd bottle of JD!! Route 5, situated at the top of Haldon Hill on the Northbound A38 near to Exeter is our third American Restaurant. As we already have a ‘Route 38’ it was decided the new restaurant was close enough to the M5 to adopt the Route 5 name (Route 5ish just didn’t sound right!). It has been suggested that the Highways Agency consider extending the Motorway another 2 miles so we can fully justify our name!
Part of the expanding Route Restaurants Brand, Route 5 like our other restaurants is again adorned with American memorabilia, but this one has more of a Southern feel, with Memphis, Nashville and surrounding areas providing much of the theme.
As you enjoy our service and hospitality you can listen to our American soundtrack that is always playing in the background, with music ranging from ‘good ole’ American rock to a little country and western, you never know, one of your favourites could be next on the playlist! Just remember if you are going to sing along make sure you try and stay in tune!
At Route 5, as with Route 38 and Route 303, in our fully licensed restaurants, you will find the ever popular and very comprehensive ‘Route Menu’ being served, including our signature dish the ‘Coral’ which consists of over two and a half pound of meat, also available are vegetarian meals as well as gluten free meals.
Alongside Route 5, in their purpose built coffee shop we welcome Lavazza, one of Italy’s leading brands of coffee. A wide selection of coffees are served together with Frappes and Smoothies, all of which can be enjoyed either seated in the coffee shop or outside on the large patio. If you become one of the regulars you can collect loyalty points, which will earn you free coffee.
Not only have we placed a little bit of America into the Southwest of England but also introduced a little bit of Italy too! We look forward to seeing you soon!
